xD; yeah, though i do wind up covering the check or movie tickets when i go out with guys. when the guy pays, it's usually coz he swiped it first. and then i try to make a quick swipe for the bill from whatever we're doing next. i have control issues. 8D;

I'm 99% sure it was something physical, but I tend to forget the comments men make to me. I do, however, remember this cute girl in my history course saying I was pretty.

that seems to be what most women learn to expect. and then we wonder why there are so many body-image problems in the world...

1] you have nice tits
2] your mouth is cute
3] that's cool how you did your weave (which was actually my real hair wtf)

Only girls have complimented me the way I needed it.

I like to split the bill ^_^ But then again I like metro guys that seem genderqueerish, but aren't gay. Weird, huh?

I think, as a whole, I can only remember getting compliments based on skill from other girls... would you say that's true of your experience?

well a few girls complimented me on my looks but they always had this negative edge to it. x_x

yeah most girls compliment me on my skill, my gf not included that is.

The last "compliment" I got from a guy was from my friend Joe, when he was literally shoving me around a room in a circle as we were talking when he said, "Oh, you're light enough to push now." Which I understood as a joke anyway, because he knows I've been loosing weight and he told me beforehand I didn't need to, but since when do I listen to him?

how many of you would try to pay for the whole bill yourself?

I always try to do this, no matter who I'm with. My dad taught me to do it. I'm not sure why. You saw how I stole the check for the tea we got that one time, haha.

edit: And though I know it's kind of Korea's 'thing' to be like that, I still can't help but think that Eeteuk was a bit of a douche bag to say it.

I don't think he knew what to do when the foreigner girls were like HEY THAT'S RUDE! but even the host pointed out the difference... the way all the Koreans were nodding like "oh, yeah, ttly" and the foreign girls were 8

I'm a firm believer in the you-treat-I-treat mentality. If you want to front the bill, then thank you and I'll get the next one. It's nice, and it doesn't make either party feel bad. If some one opens the door for me, or offers to help me carry my bags, that's them being nice and polite, not sexist. I offer too. It's just good manners.

But on the flip side, there are some things that go a little far; one of the teachers at my school drives me home after scuba and feels the need to get out of the car and watch me go inside, then call me like, two minutes later to ask if I'm in my apartment yet. That makes me feel like I'm unable to walk around/get into my house without him checking on me. THAT is degrading and it pisses me off like no other.

yeah, that's kind of creepy... but again, he's probably just doing what he's been taught is polite/expected of him.

Yeah, and he's also epically older so probably also thinks of be as a baby. Might also be because I live alone but SERIOUSLY. I GO HOME AT LIKE, 4 AM ALONE. I CAN DO IT AT 9 O'CLOCK AS WELL.

*butts in*

i don't know if it's degrading, but there are guys who have waited at my gate as i walked down the long path to my apartment front door and got in and i always found it weird. 8D; but i guess it's with my best interest at heart, so i try not to mind. i guess since i live in berkeley, that also makes more sense.
