Wow. (A note from my lit prof, and a small Bahamut update.)

My literature professor, a woman who has earned a doctorate in her field and has been teaching English for 14 years, left this note on my assignment last week ( Read more... )

Whathisname (can't see it now I'm under the cut, started with a Z, right?) looks really good, but I thought Bahamut was, well, big? Admittedly, I don't know how he turns out in FFVII.

Also, there is no upper limit on dreams. If you do not look at this site I will be sad, so look at it, especially the calendar section. Look at the calendaaaaarrrrrr. It already wants to make me finish my crazy book idea in a month (this is crazier than NaNo, since said book idea is actually complicated and requires planning I haven't done, you know, stuff you'd normally do in October for NaNo), which probably won't happen, but now thanks to all this the crazy book idea might actually get written!

Loooook at the calendaaaaaaar.

Yay, crazy book idea! I don't remember that one... a compilation of your shorts, or a big novel thingie? You must post as you write! Also-also, if you couldn't guess, that site is AWESOME. Going in my favs. :D

Whathisname? Srsly? For shaaaame. That's Zack!

And Zack is awesome. But far too big, I know. In the words of basilton (for whom this is for), "he's hyoooog." Heee. That's why I say I'm going to have to delete him. Ah, well. Perspective is a bitch! :O

I'm particularly drawn to Angry Robot Books, but I don't know if I'll be able to polish anything to submission standard by the end of March. They don't accept short stories, they only want novels, which means I have two options: polish a previously finished novel, or write a new one in exactly a month and then spend as much of March as I can spare editing and polishing it, which is much madder than NaNo because: a) more words, b) requires planning, and c) requires editing and touching up afterwards which may take at least as long as the actual writing, perhaps longer. The first option is further restricted by the fact I have exactly one previously finished novel (2005's NaNo).

But I'll give it a go. If you're curious, my current preference for starting a novel is re-doing a previous NaNo that I didn't finish that really deserved better, 1,000 Reasons to Love You. The problem is that particular idea would require an insane amount of planning - the method most likely to preserve my sanity is buying exactly 1,000 blank white cards, ( ... )

Yup, scale's way off! I'm still trying to figure out exactly how big Zack should be, but at this point, I guess I'll keep trying until it looks right. xD

If you like design, then keep doing design, but at the same time, don't give up on the writing thing. You're very good at it ♥

Awwww! Thank you. <3 Yeah, I'm going to keep up both, I think, because that's the best plan. :)

That must have been wonderful to hear :) you can have more than one dream, and you don't have to pursue both at once, one at wait for you.

Yeah, that's also what I've been thinking. I'm not going to stop my design degree or anything like that, but getting confirmation on my writing like that was a bit of an eye-opener. So maybe I should just do both. :)

Guess what? You CAN have more than two dreams. Sometimes, you can't even HAVE your cake, much less eat it. And sometimes, you can not only have your cake and eat it, too, but you can get another to eat later. Do what makes you happy. Good luck.

Eeek, I'm sorry, I missed this comment entirely!!

But you know, I've recently got hit by a lot of things that made me rethink my goals (again), and I'm pretty sure having two dreams is the only way I'll be happy. So I'm going for it. :D

Thanks love, that really means a lot.
