also, as for more rockish artists, have you try F.I.R. before? If you haven't I recommend you to try their older albums although they are more towards pop-rock though.

1. Jennifer Li 李慧珍
She's from Mainland China and does pretty interesting music. Some of her songs fuse rock and pop pretty well (though she's not all rock). Her debut single brought her to the top of Mainland charts back in 2006.
Unfortunately, the YouTube preview doesn't really have such a good sound quality. I can upload her two albums if you want.
2. Penny Tai 戴佩妮
Although she's not exactly rock, Penny sings with a pretty strong voice. Again, interesting fuse of rock and pop in some songs. Her songs aren't exactly what you hear in the mainstream.
3. Huang YiDA 黃義達
He sang the opening theme to Devil Beside You. His music tends to have interesting electronic mixes in them.
4. Mi Lu Bing
This band from Singapore won the country's first Super Band competition in 2006. They since have released two albums.

they're my favorite C-rock band right now ^__^
They're indie, but they don't sound like typical Chinese indie rock bands...

Especially Y&J, since you like strong voices. I think Jane is one of the "best" female rock voices in Cpop IMO. ((:
I will get Milubing's discography uploaded for you... 2 albums so far. They are one of my favourites! They have good music but still quite underrated IMO. Will be more than happy to recommend their music! :D (Will paste the links later...)
I would recommend F.T Island too, if you are willing to try K-pop-rock. :D

There are k-rock and j-rock. I'm no pro, but enjoy experimenting a bit...
