I'm flying back from Afghanistan tomorrow to attend a class at SANSFIRE in Baltimore next week. The bad news is I turn around the day after the class and fly back to Afghanistan for two more months.

Tomorrow's forecast is rain. I have one of those career-defining big meetings tomorrow.

Downsides

• I have to leave the house in less than 5 hours
• Frozen rain has already started falling
• I have a career defining pre-meeting in 8 hours
• Virginia drivers are completely incapable of functioning in less than ideal conditions (as opposed to Maryland drivers ( Read more... )

I'm back to COB Speicher, in Tikrit, for the next four months, at least, in theory.

What I do know for certain is that I have a ticket to fly from Frankfurt to Dulles on 31 AUG.

This weekend's main projects involved finishing all of the major repair work to the wood trim. Of the five bay windows, one was rebuilt from scratch and two had the rotten bits surgically removed and replaced. Lots of sanding and painting ( Read more... )

Not sure how much interest is out there, but it's worth throwing out. One the companies I work with is hunting hard for a high level network engineer with information assurance skills for Iraq. The living conditions in Iraq are much, much better than Afghanistan from my experience. I'm not positive, but the pay should be in the $250k range with ( Read more... )
