Finally got an XBox 360

Oct 26, 2010 23:25

As usual, I am years behind in gaming trends, shown most recently by the fact that I only just got a 360 last week. My friend Zech (who, for all intents and purposes, is one of the greatest people on the planet for reasons beyond those mentioned in this post) decided to get rid of his XBox 360, mostly, as I gather, to help him focus on his last ( Read more... )

. Don't bother mentioning Assassin's Creed or AC2, Bayonetta, any of the Halos, or any music games

Lost Odyssey (Nice RPG, I enjoyed it a lot, just don't remember anything about it anymore, lol. I just remember liking it :P)
Fable 2 (never played the first one but really enjoyed #2, going to get #3)
Dragon Age: Origins (not as great as Mass Effect/ME2 by far but I enjoyed it)
DiRT2 (I don't play racing games but i absolutley love this game. I think I've put 40-50 hours into it)
Ace Combat 6 (if you like that kind of stuff)

thats pretty much it for me.

I've always heard good things about the Ace Combat games. I'll have to look into that one, I enjoy flight combat simulators, although I haven't played one in ages (unless you count space combat sims).

I'm wary about getting into the Fable games for a few reasons, not the least of which being that games which are hugely open-ended tend to lose my interest after not so much time. Fallout 3 is bad enough (I'm like 20 hours in, and haven't gotten through even a fifth of the game yet)...I worry that if I were to play Fable 2, I would end up not getting very far, or I would put waaaayyy too much time into it...I need to limit my video gaming, to be honest :P

That's kind of why even though I really want to play Oblivion, I probably never will >_>

compared to Oblivion and FO3, Fable is easily way more linear (i hear the third one is very linear).

I've always had Fable described to me as "a sims adventure game" =p

I've heard very mixed things about BioShock 2...

Bioshock 2 was kinda like "Did you like Bioshock? Good. Do you want more of the same kind of storytelling/game play from the first one? Yes? Good. Here you go :D"

Matt is a MAJOR Bioshock fan and he really enjoyed the 2nd one. Dude has like 70,000 gamer points by now >_> He plays a lotta games and he luvums some Bioshock =p

Dead Rising 1 and 2 are good if you like sandbox zombie games. They can both be finished quickly if you just want to get through the main stories.

Splinter Cell Conviction is a fun stealth game even if you've played none of the other games.

Red Dead Redemption is fun even if you don't like the GTA series (calling it a GTA clone set in the wild west isn't even accurate at all)

I second Dead Rising 1 and 2, they're both great games.

I think you should get The UnderGarden, coming to Xbox Live Arcade on November 10th.

(Disclaimer: I worked on The UnderGarden)
