LJ Reunion

Jan 28, 2012 19:59

I've had this idea for a while but never did anything about it--until now. If you happen to read this, tell me something here. What has changed. What is new. Anything. LJ used to be kinda important, sorta. So let's have one more party here.

Now let's see if this works at all.

Yeaaaahhhh Livejournal. I'm sure most of the comments you'll get on this will be weird Russian spam, since that's all that happens around here these days. I've pretty much abandoned Livejournal myself because it started to be that I could go several weeks at a time without any friends page updates happening. I don't do a lot of blogging these days except on my Dungeons and Dragons blog or my orchids blog. I've pretty much given up on music since I've lived a lot of places where I can't make a lot of noise, and I can't afford much fancy expensive stuff to make music with since I haven't had a steady job in four years. So that's where I'm at. A little depressing, but I manage. A bit.

Good, it looks like people are notified of messages via email. This might work after all. Anyway, I hear ya on the music thing. In China, I really didn't have a venue for making music in any fashion that I would've felt comfortable about. Besides learning about China and its language was interesting enough. I don't have the greatest job situation either as I have four part time jobs and freelancing, but it will improve (as I tell myself repeatedly).

If you have taken the plunge into facebook land, feel free to add me as I doubt if livejournal will ever truly revive. Also, your blogs are neat.

haha, thanks. No I haven't ever gotten a facebook, I have been avoiding that. I DO however have Google+, which I hardly ever look at or use. But yeah, it seems like tumblr is the happening place these days. It's hard for me to keep up with it, and I only follow relatively few people. It's also way better organized and geared towards multimedia posts, which is a plus from livejournal. These days though I seem to only write about orchids and RPGs. Go figure.

Well, ya got me. At first, I was scared to log in thinking this was some kind of scam/phishing/hack job. Then I thought...ah, what the hell. I'm actually shocked that my page with the cute little black and white photo still exists!
Now that I'm married and a mother...I think my blogging would sound a little different if I was to do this again. In fact, it would be a whole lot different....hilariously different.
Thanks for inviting me back though! I can't wait to read all my back entries and feel stupid about my former self.. :-)

Yay! Paaaaaartayyyyyy!
Yup I'm not a Russian trying to steal your money. And I hear ya. My blog would be about my kid, wife and establishing a livelihood through Chinese language. Are you still in GR? Do you ever go out? Since coming back, I went to one LSDudes show and one Retro D'luxe night. Anway, I guess "sh..it's time for bed" is a more literal phrase now.

Yes...it was a little foreshadowing into my future! :-) I rarely go out...mostly because the people I would go out with are almost all mothers and coordinating days we can hang is really hard! I get my fair share of socializing though..having people over, going to people's houses, playdates, craft nights, etc. I see Nina and her adorable little daughter Adele whenever I can. Quite honestly, I sometimes want to go out but have a hard time hanging out that late! I don't like feeling terrible while taking care of my son...and just cause I get the chance to go out doesn't mean anyone will get up with him in the morning so I can sleep off that hangover..haha.

So how old is your daughter now? Is she getting into the realm of playdates??

Okay, we are demonstrating now just how times have changed. Sophia is 15 months old now. We don't specifically go on playdates, but we have some mixed Chinese couple friends who have young children. When we hang out, Sophia will try to play with them. I say try because she wants to play with other kids but she doesn't quite know what to do with them yet. How old is your son? What's his name?

Hey Phil. I just got a new job. My first full time salaried job... Doing customer service for a company in Holland that sells motorcycle parts, accessories, and apparel online. Love it, and trying to move to Holland now cuz the commute is killing my car. Oh, and I still have the same car that I did a Kinko's. Still have a bumper sticker that says "5394 4 EVA & EVA". Thanks for that, Gretchen.

That's great about the salaried job. If you read one of my comments above, you know I have four part-time jobs at the moment. By the way, one of those jobs is at Crop Marks, which is owned by Russ, Chris Vroma and Mikey. CJ works there too. Crazy. You ought to stop by sometime. As for Gretchen, I ran into her twice with her daughter who was like ten the last time I saw her. She has pink hair now!

Oh yeah, I sent an invite to your old chum, Emily. I doubt if she would actually come back to LJ to reply on my lj post. But that would be funny if she did!

I haven't thought about Mike and CJ in ages! I will definitely stop by sometime.... Who is this Emily you speak of?

YEAH!
Hey, let's all hang out at my house and work our way through Freaks & Geeks again WOO!
Or maybe not.
I hung out with this guy named Alex Hamil the other day and we were talking about his group of friends from GVSU that started the little gallery over in the industrial zone South of Fulton... the one where I displayed Penis Unicorn paintings. That made me think of the days of doing those shirts and the whole 10 Eastern multimedia night club, etc. Livejournal's part of that era too. Miss it! But yeah, no going back...

I just got a notification that someone or a band or something called Suckerpush added me on MySpace. Today is an internet social networking day of nostalgia. I noticed that the Plainfield KDL library has a book on medieval unicorn art. It was kinda cool. No penises though.

I've been thinking about what I would continue to use LJ for. I don't have an answer really, but in most respects I like it better than FB.

Yeah, facebook is overrated. How is life? What the hell has happened with you in the last few years? Did you get a degree? Are you a papa?

Got anything you want me to say to Russ, CJ, Mikey or Chris Vroma? What about Bruce or Dan Terpstra?
