I'm back...sort of!

Hi all!

I've just arrived in Houston (temporary relocation of course, I will be returning home when the house is rebuilt) and finally, finally, finally have access to the internet. It has been a really long, surreal 23 days (And counting). I keep waiting for the fog to lift and my life to return to some sense of normalcy, and I think this move

Crash! How great to have you back! I've been thinking about you all the time, and talking with Much about you. She has been keeping us well-informed, but it's so nice to hear from you directly.

Thanks so much for the good wishes. It's been so long since I've been online that I don't know where to begin!

My company has really been extremely supportive and helpful, so it's made this all a little less painful. The apartment in Houston is very comfortable, just not home. I'm eager to get the rebuilding started so that I can get back. I feel so fortunate to be in a state that rebuilding is even an option - so many more have lost so much. It's quite horrible.

Okay, didn't mean to go down that road. I've been working hard at maintaining a very positive outlook and not dwelling on the bad (because there is just so much bad).

Serious internet withdrawal! It was driving me absolutely nuts. It's funny what quirky priorities one has in the midst of a catastrophe...and the internet was mine. I even had much reading stuff to me over the terrible phone connections so that at least I could get a taste of it!

Day 1: woke up at 5:15, went to pool. 6:00 took a shower. 6:30 drove to work. 7:00 walked across parking lot to work. 7:02 went into building at work. 7:03-7:10 thought about getting a cup of coffee. 7:11 got coffee.......................

Stability is definitely the order of the day. It's funny how the little things, like routines and sense of personal space, can really become huge issues over time.

...and since you've offered, I will take anything you have to offer in the way of fic, icons, hugs or music. I'll try to not be too greedy, but I'm willing to play the New Orleans card and beg. Since I just saw the Season 3 Premier courtesy of muchtvs last night, I'd love to get an icon with the new Ryan haircut (hint, hint).
