Just call me...Jonah!

So, I evacuate and relocate to...Houston...where the next hurricane is projected to hit.

I'm in the process of preparing for Hurricane Rita. Anyone have a location they would like me to evacuate to? I can almost bet another storm will follow!

Sigh.

Hopefully this time I won't lose electricity or water or cable or...the house.

I was thinking of you last night, wondering what you did to anger the gods. I hope you stay safe and dry. Are you evacuating again, or sitting tight and hoping for the best?

Yeah, you and me with the 'what have I done to anger the gods' business!

I'm in Northwest Houston, not part of the flood-prone sections of Houston, so I'm staying put. The mayor has called for evacuations of flood areas in southeast and southwest Houston and schools have been closed, non-essential employees sent home, etc.

Here we go again...

I promised you presents. I haven't got any iconage yet, but how about some songs? From Episode 1, Season 3:

Song for No One - Ian Broudie. From the beach montage.

Blue Light - Bloc Party. From the hug. The HUG!

That's all I have for now. There will be more.

Oh lovely! thanks so much - I'm saving these as we speak.

I just saw the Season Opener episode on Monday night and that *hug* was the absolute highlight of a wonderfully Ryan-centric show. And I love that song, so thanks extra for sending it on.

You know, we haven't had an earthquake in a really long time. How does California sound? No rain/wind/storm _ I can pretty much guarantee that (although, looking at your bad luck maybe even California wouldn't be safe).

Take good care of yourself and the family, Crash.

I'm thinking that it would be a sure bet to trigger an earthquake of humongous proportions, so for your own safety I will stay away!

Seriously.

What next? I'm also on the lookout for the locusts...

Crash! I didn't even get to say welcome back yet, and here you are boarding the ark again.

How about a nice, crisp fall in Philadelphia? The snow is starting to look like a better deal right about now, I must admit.

Stay well, stay dry, and I hope Rita hits the Bush ranch, and spares you entirely!

Um, your *crisp* is my freeching cold. My soutrhern blood is a little fragile and doesn't do cold too well, but thanks for the thought! Besides, I do get to Philadelphia fairly often - it's where my company's Corporate offices are located (Actually in Malvern).

But your Bush ranch comment is the first good laugh I've had in a while! Thanks for lighting up the day!

Wisconsin isn't bad. The occassional tornado or blizzard, but those aren't too frequent. Definitely no hurricanes and I think the last major earthquake was that big midwest one about 200 years ago.

Hope all goes well this time around and for the rest of hurricane season!

Yeah, about that blizzard...leave it to me to bring on the once-in-a-lifetime deluge by moving in to the neighborhood!

Thanks - 2 more months left to this hurricane season, then we get a 6-month break.

Dude, what have you done to anger God, eh?

It's totally your fault, I bet...

On a more sober note - a) I sympathise with you (and the other evacuees hunted down by hurricanes) immensely, because it's just not fair. And I hope Rita is clement.

b) and this is something entirely different, but I'd love to get in touch with you, if you ever wanted to talk about your experiences (and I completely understand if you don't, and hope this doesn't sound too forward). You know my day job is in journalism...

Anyhoo - if you'd ever consider emailing me - it's on my profile (elhelzed AT gmail.com)

Actually, even if you don't want to talk about it publicly, I'd love to hear how you're doing.

And I shall write you something, but not as fast as Brandy, dammit!

Much love

I totally think it's all my fault. What else could it be?

Seriously, I would gladly share my experiences - I'd be happy to share it all with you. Suffice it to say, I'll be waiting to see what Rita does ... just more experience to pile on.

As soon as I catch up with the basics...answering emails, etc. I'll be looking for (and hoping to see) fics and would be thrilled to see something from you!

Thanks for the lovely thoughts and words...I've added your email to my address book for 'future' reference. Mine is on LJ by the way. It's cmburdett@cox.net.
