if you're in a sturdy car that's nonetheless the no bigger than the other vehicles out there, you're going to be naturally more cautious than in a huge car. chugging along in a tank towering over the other drivers i would think lends itself to a certain degree of aggression (or even recklessness?).
its a stretch, but still worth a shot if you've got no other argument?
(you could also make a big deal about how as a soon-to-be-adult, you need to start exercising your ability to make excerise strong personal morality in your decision-making) (i.e. if you think driving an SUV is wrong, that should play a role in the decision, only it sounds cooler the first way)
