Update on the car thing: She wants the Volvo SUV.

It's hard to argue against the safety specs.

I'm still mad.

Everyone who responded before is officially cool.

i have the volvo suv, it's not such a tough life

i know this comment is in no way constructive or helpful
but i thought i should toss it out there anyway.

did you try the aggressive driving point?

if you're in a sturdy car that's nonetheless the no bigger than the other vehicles out there, you're going to be naturally more cautious than in a huge car. chugging along in a tank towering over the other drivers i would think lends itself to a certain degree of aggression (or even recklessness?).

its a stretch, but still worth a shot if you've got no other argument?

(you could also make a big deal about how as a soon-to-be-adult, you need to start exercising your ability to make excerise strong personal morality in your decision-making)
(i.e. if you think driving an SUV is wrong, that should play a role in the decision, only it sounds cooler the first way)

unfortunately, ive tried all of those. it's really upsetting. she keeps giving me, "it's not like any other SUV." banana head.

big cars are bad for city driving.
besides, my friend's volvo SUV makes me want to barf.

if she's going to make you pay for gas, say you can't afford an suv amount.

or, following up on michael's idea, rear-end someone in the suv you drive now and tell her it was because you go power-mad in the things.

SUVs are NOT safer than regular, well-built cars. lobby for a volva sedan or something.
