It's over. Within 48 hours I'll be back in the United States, and everything that happened here in Freiburg will seem like only a dream.

Part of me wants to protest, unpack all of my things and decide, like two other people on my program have done, to stay another year. An enormously large part of me wants to stay in Europe forever.

Two weeks until I leave for Germany. Oh my.

Everyone keeps asking me whether I'm excited or nervous or what. I'd say right now I feel neither. Overall, I'm really really excited. It's going to be great great great. I have way too much free time to think. Sitting here at work for four hours with hardly anything to do (the kids are working on maps, there's no need for me except to answer the occassional question or permit a bathroom break) causes me to go over things in my mind more times than is ever necessary. For some unexplainable reason, I can't seem to shake a feeling of sadness and depression that has been haunting me for the last few days.

It's hard because I can't figure out exactly what I'm upset about. It's not anything in particular... it's just everything.
