I've been crying. I'm having an emotional break down right now and I have no idea why. I was just sitting down and all of a sudden I burst into tears. I had been crying for the past hour and I stopped for now but I don't think it's over. I feel very unstable and unsure right now. I don't know what's wrong with me ( Read more... )

Do you need/want me to come over or come pick you up so we can get away for a bit?

you're scaring me, and you better call me ASAN

That sounds like a good idea. Ali, it sounds like you need a break first of all. I know you'll have one soon, and maybe it will help a litle bit to remind yourself of that; I don't know. You have a lot of pressure, and I'm sure I don't even know the half of it. Having a friend to hug and talk to is a really good idea at the moment. I know how it is to feel that way.

Also, I hope you'll go see someone, talk to them about how you feel. Sometimes a professional who isn't emotionally connected to you can offer good advice and help. I've been there, too, and I know it's not easy to say, "I need help."

One last thing at the moment - I'm praying for you right now and I hope you can find some peace tonight. Love you. ****huge hugs****

thank you, those were all really comforting words and I'm glad to have you as a friend . . . at least someone who can pray for me when I couldn't find the strength to pray for myself (trust me, I was praying myself, and then I started crying again).

*gives you massive amounts of hugs*

Just breathe deep okay? Look, just go on AIM and IM me. I want to help you through this. I know it's hard and there is so much on your mind but please let me try. You are a great guy and I don't want you to lose your mind over this. We will talk it over and I'll be here for you as long as you need.

I'm sorry I didn't come online. I would've had I read this message earlier but I really appreciate your care and concern. :)

It's okay. I'm still online if you are still wanting to talk. If you want my cell to talk on the phone (if that is okay now) I'll give it too you, but if it's still a nono, then it's okay.

It wouldn't hurt to take this advice seriously.

If you decide your school obligations are greater than your health, just stop, breathe, and take it one step at a time. Set your priorities, pick one item and then work on that. Put the rest in the "don't worry" pile.

The point is not to allow yourself to get anymore stressed than you already are.

Good luck.

Breathe. Do things to take care of yourself like a nice bath. If you have to study, make sure you've eaten well so you are alert. Don't feel guilty if you need to take a break. You won't be any more productive if you're consumed by worry or guilt. Remember it's not the end of the world. And don't be shy about accessing your university's counselling and academic support centres.

Seriously, if you take one piece of advice, it's to do that. Even if you don't find they solve everything - it's nice to know you're not the only one experiencing difficultly adjusting at university.

Also, it's okay to move at a different pace than other people - I have a friend who can only take a certain amount of classes that she can handle. She's taking maybe twice as long to finish her degree and did community college classes before university to prepare but her self esteem and confidence (as well as her grades) have improved because of the slow pace. You could always work part-time to help ease the financial burden if that is a concern.
