I Live For These Moments

Aug 14, 2006 00:17

These brief windows of time are what men call "inspiration." Not to say that I'm acknowledging the objective reality of time, but since we all have to deal with events in chronological order, I hope you'll forgive me the hypocrisy ( Read more... )

Thanks. I really wasn't trying to boost my ego or impress myself or anything with this entry, but I always appreciate positive reinforcement, so thank you.

You rock too.

It just makes me so jealous that you can put things like this into words. I can get vague ideas, but I just end up looking like an asshole when I try to write it down. I have so few things I am proud of writing outside of my TAG papers, which is lame, as I want to be a writer.

I know how you feel, believe me. However, I'm fairly sure from hanging out with you and getting to know you some that you're a cerebral person with a lot of talent waiting to be developed. If writing is the direction you want to try to take first, my advice is: read. Nothing has helped my writing skills so much as reading (besides actual practice, maybe...but I suppose I wouldnt' have been as prepared in practice if not for my reading experience). The problem is that you have to read the right things. Sure, novels are fun and enjoyable sometimes; they undeniably have their place in the literary realm. However, they aren't written in a way that condenses really meaningful ideas into succinct, well-turned phrases in the way that some other literature can ( ... )

Does this have something to do with the new need for hugs?

heh, You skipped a few of the intermediate steps, but I suppose the two issues are ultimately connected...somewhere.

During our lives, maybe the primary way we express ourselves is in how we treat the people around us. Sure, so-called "creative expression" like writing poetry or prose or music is indispensible, but most of us don't sit around pumping out pieces of art all the time. So we're left with our most frequent manner of expression being the way we are with friends. The bottom line: my goal for this whole summer has been to come to a deeper understanding, appreciation of, and fellowship with those I care about; and I feel now that I've succeeded fairly well. I feel more open and am doing my best to be more cordial and expressive, etc... therefore hugs.

eh?

It's a bit too early in the day for me to fully wrap myself around what the hell you said, but hey, it sounds coherent and intelligent to me, and that's really all that matters right now.

Also, I am sorry that I slept through things in spite of you requesting my presence :(

-Thanks. If you have any thoughts, be sure to share them with me. Discussion is good.

-It's okay. I'll forgive you for having the most fucked up sleep schedule of anyone I've ever known.
