Lost in Space costume - Judy Robinson

Jun 02, 2010 12:44

Got some progress pictures of my next costume project, Judy Robinson from the original Lost in Space TV series. I'm using Kwik Sew 3576 for a base pattern, just trying to get "close enough" for the dress shape and style. Gotta wash the fabric today before I start cutting out. Until then, enjoy mockup pics!

DANGER!! DANGER!! )

I bow to your mad draping skills, madam!

They don't hold a candle to yours, ma'am. But thanks! Since I posted, I discovered her skirt isn't pleated...those're just slits, with an underskirt beneath. Thanksfully, I haven't hacked into my fabric yet.

Oh, btw, creases can be permanent/semi-permanent by using a pressing cloth:

I totally <3 mine.

Don't you just hate it when some detail escapes until it's too late?! Glad you caught it....can't wait to see more on this project, it looks like so much fun!

Oh! Hey, I have one of those! I sorta used it once, but found that a 50/50 of white vinegar and water set the pleats for my green silk Victorian dress like whoa. I'll give it a try tonight and see what happens. Thx for the tip!
