first of all, that really blows, im sorry.
secondly, not that im an expert or anything, but would i be right by saying that if you start playing viola its going to affect how you play violin cause youll have to switch back and forth? and for someone as professional and just plain fuckin amazing as you, its not worth it, even if youre just being flexible and helping. i would tell haupt thats its just too confusing and you cant do it. cause you dont want to get over your head before you can still back out. he should understand. but thats just my opinion.

and you deserve first chair more than they need a viola.
