Oh, there's lots of things! [ And here Marisa gets a detailed run-through of fun things such as drinking tea, gardening, going to work, going to school, going to prom - she DOES know what prom is, doesn't she?, shopping, meeting new people (though you have to be careful with some...), answering the phones, greeting drones--
It's a good time to learn, isn't it? I think we'll all be here a while. I'll be glad to show you around if you want!
[ But first, she purses her lips and swallows something in her throat. Whoops. Too much talking. ] Whew, I need some water. Would you like some water? [ She jerks a thumb toward the porch. ]
Sure, you can do that! [ She opens the latch on the fence and then makes her way toward the porch, talking over her shoulder. ] As for the rest, well... what else are you going to do?
I doubt it. [ She leads the other woman inside and makes her own way to the kitchen. ] I mean, we all get jobs, but you can't really pick-and-choose from what I figured out. Everyone who's not from another world will just tell you that you've had that job for a long time, so why switch now?
Y-- [ Coughing on that water. Meiling is from a place where phones aren't really used/needed but... she has yet to encounter someone who was that out of place here.
She thumps her chest, taking a few quick breaths, and then points to the handset on a small table. ] Um, it's that device over there. You can use it to talk to anyone else in Mayfield while they're in their homes. You pick it up, ask for the operator and give up the name of who you want to talk to, and then go from there.
[Medieval fantasy world for you. People communicated through messengers and letters, back then...
She gets that this is somehow surprising to her, but of course she has no ideas why. Explanation is good, though, and she'll attentively hear MeiLing out.]
It lets you talk to anyone in town? ...That's useful. [She approves of that, at least.] How do you pick it up? [It could be that handle thing, but maybe she should just ask for a demo... :|a]
Yep! [ She sets down her glass and walks over to it. ] It's pretty simple. [ Meiling does indeed, demonstrate, with rather exaggerated motions, how to pick up the handset. ] See? [ Putting it down again. ] You give it a try!
Well, she's not one to judge anyone as strange, but the weapons do make her pause as she leans against the fence. ] Hi! What can I do for you?

--she thinks. That was a LOT of information to retain. ]

What do we all do here?

I'm fine, it's not hot out. [Another pause.
...and before it gets drawn-out/awkward:] Do I come with you?
