I went out with Carrie M. last night to Dots. It was good to get out and chat and drink. Shamus and I won 2 nights stay at the Sheraton Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki and 1 night at the Sheraton in Maui with inter-island airfare paid for. I think last time I wrote, I was complaining about the insurance company. Well it turns out that complaining really does get you somewhere. Last week they shelled out the entire $900 that we billed them for. It was not enough to cover the birth of course, but at this point we had sort of written that money off. I've been reading other people's journals and thinking that I'm not nearly poetic or depressed enough to be writing here. It's nice in a way to be so balanced, but it's also really boring. I haven't written for a long, long time. When I first started this whole project Sophie was in a sleeping phase. Then she transitioned into a non-sleeping phase, hence my noted absence. Getting screwed by the insurance company! That's what's going on now. Who knew that maternity services are all billed together after you deliver your baby. If you switch insurance carriers in the middle, the new carrier is supposed to cover all the charges. If your new carrier doesn't cover your delivery, you get nothing. I can't believe the little one is still sleeping at 10:45 (well, she woke up at 8 and 9 but this is still late to not be up for the day). Yesterday she was so smiley whenever she woke up.
