Wow. And you know that there are two jokers in every deck. It's just a matter of if you use them and when they come out :)

Even as we are the few right-leaning people in this bunch, we seem to have similar opinions.

I have something like 60 days to do my research, but it's the first time in 16 years that I'm really looking into candidate profiles. Hockey mom is all well and good, but how will she do meeting with Putin, for example? Mr. Barr is still on the table for me, although I really haven't done the research there either. I have the "liberty" of living in NJ, where I know a vote for a (R) won't matter, so I can at least make a statement going third/fourth/fifth... party if I so choose.

My main problem with Barr is that he feels like a short-term convert to libertarianism, while RP is the closer to the real deal. Particularly telling is Barr's very recent about-face on the War on Drugs; I can't help but doubt his sincerity.

And I'm pretty much in the same boat as you; Obama will win NY provided he still has a pulse on Election Day, so I'm free to "throw my vote away".

Heh. One of these days I'd like to request the full vote tally from the state Board of Elections, just to see how many gag candidates show up. (Assuming they even tally write-ins.)
