I ended up with 26,152 words by the end of November 30th. Just barely beat the half-way point, but I'm still happy. It's the best I've done for amount of writing in a single month so far. I'm going to be going back to Alma College for Homecoming this year. It turned out perfectly, since St. Norbert College (where I'm going now for my teacher certification) for some reason has October 8th & 9th off from classes, and I have the days off from work too. I just love it when people don't get sarcasm. Someone can get all offended, upset, or up-in-arms about a silly little joke. Some people don't have a sense of humor, and it makes me laugh every time.

A coworker brought up to me today how the phrase "spic and span" has a pretty questionable etymology. First, we have the word "spic", which we all know is a racial slur for Mexican people. Then the word "span." It has a few technical meanings. But could it perhaps be a shortened version of the word "Spaniard", maybe even meant to also be derogatory ( Read more... )
