What's past is food for thought

An entry for LJ Idol, week 6: "Food memory."

They stretch back so far now. 35 years, she realizes. 35 years ago was the first time she remembers that tall man with the shiny head and big, big smile reaching over the counter, one little shortbread cookie with a pool of chocolate on top. There's such eloquence here. The way that the sequences are strung together almost tangle in their sense of the story, but it's so like how memory tangles that it's absolutely perfect. There's a voice to each character that isn't here that's just so succinct and clear. I'm loving the image of someone shining and free and joyous in their passion. Beautiful. Thank you.
