hola,
I am not actually Dominican but am very
keen on learning about you guys.
Would anyone know of any good movies
styled like Raising Victor Vargas based on Dominicans
or similar groups in the USA?
I got really caught up into that movie, it
seems so real!

There is a great movie called "NUEBA YOL"!! It's very 80s and it's hilarious. I love it. It won't serve much of an educational purpose, but it's a riot to watch. It's about a guy named Balbuena who comes to the USA from the DomRep and shows his misunderstandings and language barriers and things.. I highly recommend it if you can get a hold of it.

It has a sequel, too.

find in australia though.

I *LOVE* Manu Chao. Well, his music. He's pretty great too, though.

I like and i saw back in the 2004 or maybe 2005
Se llama "perico ripiao"
and another one
"los locos tambien piensan"
boths are comedies
"Andrea"
it's suspence.
I saw them when i was living back in DR
so i don't know if you can find it in a store
here in the US but you can download it from the internet.
Those movies are in spanish
but of course you can use subtitles
Those movies were film in the DR
and you'll see what's our culture it's like
first hand.
