Oi! Glover Lovers, where is our fandom??
I still consider Crispin my number one favorite actor.. yet... my fandom seems so dead! Barely any news, barely any fan activity in LJ like with other fandoms around here... are you all hiding on some forum I don't know? (willing to share links?)

Anyway, Read more... )

I don't know, I was really blown away by Ledgers performance. I can't imagine anyone else in the role, and doing as well as he did. I heard Crispin was never asked to play the role of the Joker, but I'm thinking he could do a good job.
Glover was the first person I had in mind to play the Joker, I don't really understand what they meant by "20 years ago he could do it" either. I don't think he's changed that much, he's taken on darker role's in recent years. Maybe too old in general? I've never read the comics, so I have no idea if the Joker if supposed to be a particular age. Jack Nicholson played the Joker when he was about 60, so that doesn't make alot of sense.
From the comic illustrations of the Joker, Crispin really seems to have the right look for it. If that makes sense..?

Crispin Glover would totally still make the best Joker ever! I don't know what the guy's talking about with all this '20 years ago' bullshit. If anything, he's more apt to be a great Joker NOW than he would have been 20 years ago. I mean, after he played Grendel in Beowulf? No question he'd be awesome in Batman!
But I think The Dark Knight set it up pretty well so that it has a relatively smooth trans into the first Batman movie. At least, smooth for Hollywood's standards (considering how badly they screwed up Two-Face's story this time). I don't think anyone would have noticed... but then again, I would love to see more Joker, and Crispin would totally be the icing on the cake!

I think Crispin's better as the Riddler, personally, because it's definitely more his type of brain-candy, and yes, poor Two Face was totally fucked out of this particular film. I feel for him. I really do.
And YAY it's nice to see you here, being active.

Ledger's role should not be recast. It is perfect the way it is.

If anything, I'm hoping for Crispin as The Riddler. It's a far more...cerebral role, and something I think he could really get into. :D

Holyshit, yes. You don't need me to comment on this post, now. You took the sentences straight from behind my little eyes.

However, just hear me out for a moment:
Joker?
Johnny Motherfuckin' Depp.
I'm serious.
I'm really, really serious.

I was thinking the same thing too.... Ledger is leaving some very difficult shoes to fill, but Depp would be a good choice

I'm anticipating someone coming along and saying something like, "Silly rabbits, this is the best candidate!" and we all gaze longingly up at the shining avatar and coo at it.

Ledger did a fan-fucking-tastic job of the Joker. Screw the people who thought he was just "meh" or "pretentious" about his deliverance. Those are tough shoes to fill, indeed.

I really think Depp could do it.

DEPP FOR JOKER PRESIDENCY, 2010.

I still stand by my decision that Glover would make a better Scarecrow than a Joker

not to say that Cilian Murphy wasnt great... he was wonderful, but glover can do the meek to sciopath transition better
