Annie woke from a fitful sleep slowly, having dozens of half-dreams in the space between sleep and wakefulness. When she finally gave over and sat up, she was disappointed but unsurprised to find she was still in the unfamiliar bed she'd fallen into late the night before. There was a glass of tap water on the bedside table, bubbles gathered on the side. She finished it to dispel the stale nighttime taste from her mouth. Even though she'd stopped drinking long before she went to sleep, she still had the telltale throb of a headache behind her eyes. Fantastic.

She went the ensuite and splashed water on her face and neck. She wanted a real bath, but she'd promised Sam she'd check in, and she didn't have any clothes to change into anyway. If she was going to be trapped there, she hoped she'd find something about that didn't look like it'd fit with the rest of the décor. She just finished her best approximation of brushing her teeth when she heard a rap at the door. She looked up into her reflection in the vanity, promising herself as soon as she'd reassured Sam she wasn't going to run off and "abandon" him, she'd draw herself a bath and stay in it until she was pruney.
