hey cuz... she is. they are. our parents are... there's racism everywhere. and... I'm sorry, I know it's hard to hear that. I've heard her say stuff before. I will say this though- race will always be an issue. You've grown up with Mexicans/Hispanics being the race issue. I've grown up in black vs. white- battle to the death. On the one hand- 70% of New Orleans is black... and of that New Orleans population- a very very large percentage are black and poor. it's a vicious cycle... at no point should anyone ever be able to justify laziness and racism with... well it's what I was taught- but it what they were taught... so on that other hand... how can we expect people to change when their existence is perpetuated by poverty and ignorance. so they sit, and during the storm, they are the people who don't have enough money to leave- the people who have never ever left new orleans. their homes are owned by the government, and most of them wouldn't leave if they have the money. it's not an easy fix. that has been the biggest
