I was thinking of apping one of the characters from Pushing Daisies, specifically Ned. His powers are as such that if he touches someone dead they only have a minute to live before he has to touch them again; if he doesn't touch them again, someone else in proximity has to die. Of course, the reason I bring this up is will he still have this power? I guess because he'd be a kill-joy what with if he touched the captain to at least find out what happened or keep him alive to kill someone else, but the latter he is very much against because it's stealing someone else's life and that dead person more or less had their chance? I also worried if it was possible or not to apply for him? Very long-winded, yes.
I would allow Ned's power to work, mainly because even if someone dies permanently, the distortion of time around the ship will reset their deaths, anyway. It's not like they're being revivied; it's more like going back in time, so whatever happened during the three months would be undone. I would ask that if you want to use Ned's power in a plot that you, of course, talk it over with the other players. Whoever died permanently would be dead until sometime during the third month or the start of the first.
The only exception I would make is that it wouldn't work on the captain, since it would indeed kind of ruin the surprise of what's really going on early on. D: I do apologize about that! But if you'd like to app him with his powers, while keeping that exception in mind, then go right ahead!
I would prefer that the strengths section be at least partially filled out; every little detail isn't necessary, so at least a vague idea is better than nothing. :D Give us an idea what he's capable of, and you could fill out details later.
What about characters with wings/horns/other freakish non-human properties? I'm assuming they're allowed to keep those, since I didn't read otherwise, but thought I'd ask. 8)
Yep, they can keep 'em! I only draw the line when it starts getting to the point where they can't function normally on the ship. People like, say, Safer Sephiroth or Paul Bunyan are not allowed. :(
Good questions! Characters who have already died are perfectly alright; they can know they're dead, or they can be in the dark about it! It's up to you. The animal companions are a little more iffy; technically no other 'entities' are allowed besides the character themselves, but if that companion is somehow integral to the character's continued existence, then they'll come along. If they need them to live, or they're bound together, or something of that nature. Ash wouldn't have Pikachu, but Lyra would have Pan, since a daemon is a part of the person.
I would like some activity from players at least three or four times a month, which can easily be over the weekends. I do understand what not having a lot of time can be like! So if you can only post on weekends, I don't have a problem with that. If there's ever a plot that you'd like to participate in but does not occur during a time when you can post, just approach me about it! I'd be happy to work with you on date.
They can go ahead and do it if they'd like! But what would happen is when the skin heals, the barcode will reappear along with the skin; the ship's computer says it's temporary, but apparently that's another matter entirely!
Couple of questions! Well, the first one is more of a concern at LJ being dumb rather than a question, but anyway! One, I tried tagging the log entry twice, and I don't know if the tags need mod approval in order to show up, but I wanted to let you know that I did tag it! It just...isn't showing >.>
And two! With the Enviro-dome, is each floor a specific setting? Like floor 16 is all ocean and beach, and 17 is the forest, things like that? And where would our characters check to see what the weather's like in each floor?
And three, because I just thought of another! As far as the orange suits go, can characters change into their old clothes and still wander around the ship? Or are there floors and hallways where the suits are a necessity?
The tags are actually entered on my end! I just finished up editing that today, so I took the liberty of adding tags to your log. Once I put a tag into the database, then you can add it to whatever log or entry you may do. :3
The Enviro-dome is actually what it sounds like! The three levels have been hollowed out in a dome-shape, with a third of that dome devoted to each section. You can check the weather at the transport pad; before you tell it where you want to go, a character can just ask the computer what the weather; "Check weather in---" and so on, then just say which environment the character would like to go to.
The characters can wear their own clothing whenever they wish; the suit is only there upon arrival. If they don't want to keep it, they don't have to! However, it may come in handy later, so throwing it away is ill-advised.

Although that does bring up another couple of questions.
Can we app characters who have died and take them post-death? And what about characters who have animal companion type things?

Concerning the barcodes, what if a character tries to cut it off of their hand? Or has someone else do as much for them?
It's this thread, in case you needed a link to it.
