Cool Story, Bro

So I'm replaying Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete right now for the first time since I got it as a present for my 15th birthday. As I cleared out of the first town and dungeon, I had an epiphany.

This contains spoilers, because I know everyone'll be atwitter if I ruin the plot of an 11-year-old remake of an 18-year-old game). )

Wasn't there a remake of Lunar for the PSP or one of the handheld consoles? I remember a friend playing it.

Yeah. I even think they got Jenny Stigle back to do the songs (though the lyrics are different). From what I can tell, though, the differences are mainly cosmetic and it follows the PS1 version pretty closely.

I've been thinking about getting it. Do you think it holds up? (I haven't read your cut yet)

I'd probably play on PSP, though.

Hold up nothin. This game has only improved with time (and me being older and more able to enjoy simple, lighthearted stuff).

It's still an excellent game. The encounter rate is mind-bogglingly high, though. Even though you can run around most monsters, the dungeons are typically narrow and difficult to move through... so expect a LOT of combat.

And once you get to the Red Dragon Cave, every random battle becomes, pretty-much, an entrail-ripping struggle to the death. srsly, the game wore me out and I'm taking a breather from it.
