The road to the capital

Apr 17, 2006 09:26

The decision has been made to take the remains of the caravan to the capital. A night of rest and the ministrations of the cleric put everyone to full health. A couple of hours in the morning and a casting of shape wood gets the wagon working and loaded. The caravan sets out at noon with the three surviving caravaneers handling the wagons. Ana's first action:

She raises her arm and utters a spell calling upon Corellon to fashion a weapon to attack Lamia #3. The longsword, "Sahandrian" appears and attacks the Lamia. (Attack roll = 13(roll) + 6 (base attack bonus) + 4 (wisdom modifier = 23) for damage (1 d 8 force damage per hit + 1 point per three caster levels = 5(roll) + 2 = 7 damage)

(cast 'spiritual weapon' Lamia #3)

Should there be a second round, the spiritual weapon would continue to attack. Attack roll = 10(roll) + 6 + 4 = 20) for damage (3(roll) + 2 = 5 damage). (Note to Josh: If I'm reading correctly the implication seems to be that if the spiritual weapon continues to attack the same target in subsequent rounds its a free action leaving me with the opportunity to do another action in the second round while the weapon continues its attack?)

If the lamia is dead, my second action would be to heal whoever needs it. If the lamia lives still, my spiritual weapon would attack and I would then heal whoever needs it.

If no one needs healing,I will stand and pout.

The barest flicker of annoyance washes across Oulah's face, and he will again let fly three grey shafted arrows at the monster.

1: (hit roll 15+ 14 bonus+ 1 bow +1 point blank+4 favored enemy +1 prayer -2 rapid shot=34 to hit) (dam- roll 1 +1 bow +1 point blank + 1 prayer +4 favored enemy +5 str = 13 damage)
2: hit 19 +9 +1 +1 +1 +4 -2 =33 to hit (dam 1 +1 +1 +1 +4 +5=13 damage)
3: hit 4 +14 +1 +1 +1 +4 -2 =23 to hit (dam 1 +1 +1 +1 +4 +5=13 damage)

The acid burns 7 hit points from the lamia/corpse

(In the unlikely event of a water landing:)
I will fire 4 more magic missiles, for 12 damage.

(In the more likely event that the above would be desecration of a corpse:)
I will cast detect magic and check over the area, trying in particular to determine what the interrupted ritual might have been (and if there is any sign that it might have been completed).

If the creature is still standing, Verealing will attack it with all three arrows:

9 rolled+13 attack bonus+1 point blank =23 to hit
3 regular+5 shock+2 feat+1 point blank =11 damage
5 rolled+13 attack bonus+1 point blank =19 to hit
3 regular+4 shock+2 feat+1 point blank =10 damage
12 rolled+8 attack bonus+1 point blank =21 to hit
2 regular+2 shock+2 feat+1 point blank =7 damage

If the lamia has been taken care of by the time Verealing acts, he’ll give the stolid warpony a pat on the shoulder before he nocks another arrow. Then he'll join Calvin and Burt in checking all sides for new attackers.

I will move towards the front of the wagon train, and, in the unlikely event more blows are needed to fell our remaining opponent, call down lightning on the lamia (dealing 8 damage).

If he's already dead, I still move toward the front of the train, wanting to assess the health of my compatriots and Therkahn after our battle.
