There's some smears of color on the shirt and when her hand comes into view it's explained by the paintbrush she has in her hand. By her motions, you can tell that she's propped the device on her

I'm glad you're doing some painting. It's good. Are you a fan of the impressionist or are you just feeling particularly impressionistic today?

I'm afraid I don't know the term, "impressionistic," the way you're using it, but the style fits the mood I'm in.

I just meant, a little out of focus I guess. Or maybe in some kind of dream like haze. Neither one are terribly bad but then again impressionistic could be very relative. It may mean something entirely different to you.

I just thought with the way the light made everything seem a little unreal, it suited the image.

[Sounds like there's a horse coming through the woods nearby...]

[Her head turns, settling the canvas back on the easel as she pulls out a small bottle of turpentine to start cleaning her brushes. She can hear the horse, but she can't see it yet.]

[He'll come out of the woods in a second--on the horse, and probably looking like he's been camped out in the woods for a week. He's...probably not headed back towards town yet either. Anyway, when we gets nearer:]

[A man on a horse. Not something she saw everyday, but then she was aware of those in the city with livestock.]

I'm not really an artist, I just like to paint and draw occasionally. I used to do it when I was little.

Don't devalue yourself. Artists are allowed to have day jobs, too, and to not be starving.
