OH GOD I DO TOO. There was a lot of ShuuRan in this book, and we now know that Rangiku at least acknowledges he exists (if only to troll him HARD).

They're all basic stuff you learned in the SS arc - what a shinigami is, the structure of Seireitei, what the Gotei 13 is, what fighting styles the shinigami use, what the Academy is, where the shinigami live, etc. If I had to guess, I'd say his column wasn't popular because every shinigami and their mother would know this shit.

The translations I read of Colorful Bleach are what really made me like Shuuhei, because he's just so dorkily adorable in it. The option for "I like/don't like his looks" is hilarious. It makes me think that he was trying to get her to respond to that one. I have to wonder about the results. I tend to think that despite the fandom reception that he's sex on legs that most of the women in the Seireitei are too busy drooling over more traditional bishonen like Byakuya or Hitsugaya. Also, I don't think his scars and tattoos aren't the fetish fuel that they are for the fangirls and are actually more of a turn off.

Yeah, you see lots of photo ops, calendars, photobooks, and cards advertised to the shinigami in the book for Matsumoto, Toushirou, and Byakuya (Matsumoto's calendar is the most expensive one - everyone else's is the same price), but nothing for Shuuhei. It even looks like Momo, Renji, and Rukia have their own little fanbases within Seireitei (and apparently Ukitake is sex on legs, too). He seemed to be the Cool Stoic Upperclassman in the Academy flashbacks, but once he was in the Gotei 13 it seems like he was regarded as being the dork from the editorial department. The 'Teach Me, Shuuhei-sensei' section was even supposed to have been so unpopular that it was canceled after just one column.

There is an interview where Kubo says that he was surprised that Shuuhei was so popular despite having no character development, so I don't think he thought that the fangirls would like him and subsequently that shinigami women would. But yeah, the guys who like to write aren't exactly the ones with the most appeal. There's probably a nerdy underground of girls who think he's cute and smart (*raises hand*), but that's probably it. Though, I think he got a lot of tail during the academy since everyone knew about him. Kira's quote of "he's not just anyone, he's Hisagi Shuuhei" still makes me LOL (even if ShuuKira is probably my least favorite Shuuhei ship for some reason).

I wish there was more of them! I can find HitsuMatsu doujin all day long, but never any ShuuRan.

Shuuhei makes a better Cool Senpai than actual Cool Coworker, I think. IDK, I think his scars and tattoos are AWESOME. He's possibly the only person besides Renji that I've ever seen make facial tattoos cool. Actually, Bleach is the only series I've ever seen to make facial tattoos cool (they always looked stupid in X-Men).
