I gotta say I was SHOCKED about Michael Jackson. I watched a few videos, after hearing the news... and some made me cry.. I haven't listen to ANYTHING of his is many many years. I looked at it as he is finally at peace and I try to remember him when he was at his best. It's like how most people are remembering Farrah from her poster or from Charlie's Angels instead of being on her death bed.

My favorite part of Thriller was the part with Vincent Price. It was something that Alice Cooper also did with Black Widow before that. It just made those songs better.

MJ was a very, very sad case. As talented as he was, as you pointed out - he was never comfortable in his own skin. I suspect the rumors of abuse by his father had a lot to do with it - not to mention the expectations placed on him from the age of 5 to "perform". What he became seemed truly freakish, but I think that was just an outward manifestation of the demons he couldn't deal with.

I don't really grieve him as an artist - I was never a fan of "thriller", but I do feel sad for what he went through - his own personal hell.
