You are dead to me. If I am going to grieve the loss of you and my grandsons, then I shall imagine that loss as death.

Yeah, it's 5:30am....but I'm celebrating Father's day late...no wait, it's almost 7am now...
Really late - not just a couple of days late. Like 8 years late. You know how they say "God doesn't give you more than you can handle."? So, the youngest is now officially on home-bound school - which means the tutor gets to drop her work off, and I get to make her do it. Hey, anything to get her into 7th grade. At least I can help her with her Spanish, and one of her core teachers will be helping her after school with math and science. And we won't have to get up at the butt-crack ( Read more... ) -
I keep trying
To see beyond my pain. I'm not having a lot of success. It probably hasn't helped watching a dear friend go through a life-threatening event with his youngest. And she's not out of the woods yet, given the brain tumour is malignant. I hope and pray she survives. She has many family members, and friends of the family, who would miss her deeply ( Read more... ) -

I've spent the last couple of days commenting back and forth with an old friend from beekslayers, trying to figure out his 18 month-old daughter's symptoms. I think we were both hoping it was something simple. I know he was. Turns out, his baby daughter has a brain tumor. She's scheduled for surgery, and he and his family are going through hell. And it's not. Never was, never will be. The best we can hope, imho, is that we can make it both tolerable, and when possible, joyful. Dr. Edward Shirley knew joy. He also knew tragedy. This is the third birthday I've been cut off from.
