Baptism of the Spirit....yeah I want to learn more about it. Not saying that I believe in it, or not. . . but it seems to me that there are 2 extreme sides to it. Some say it's necessary if you claim to be a Christian, others say the only real baptism is that through water. Which is right????? I know most people who use LJ are southern baptists

Hi Kat! Well I'm not really talking about baptism through water, but some "extremists" believe that baptism of the spirit entails speaking in tongues, which in turn they say is a necessity for being a Christian. A girl from Paul class this past semester once told me that the church she went to believed in baptism of the holy spirit....the pastor once asked her if she had been baptised by the HS, she didn't know, and after much prayer with the pastor, she began speaking in tongues....see? That's what I'm talking about...I've heard sooooooo much about it, both positive and negative, do u know nething about it?
