You'd be suprised how much money a $1.25 can become when you're undergoing foreclosure.

So, you'd fire me if you were my boss?

If the hotel in foreclosure is going to get a new owner, what choice would I have? I might not fire you, but I'd at least dock your pay multiplied by the drinks you took

The new owner probibly wouldn't know of your good record otheriwse, and part of my responibility would be to make sure that I'm allowing the buinsess to stay in the black.

Well, you obviously don't know what the hell you're talking about because there is no new owner. I've worked with these people since June of 2003.

Therefore I'm not just some "number" or "just another employee."

Fuck it... not giving me sympathy and/or support isn't the wisest thing to do right now considering how pissed off I am

I can refer you to the Evansville job listings, if you'd like. :)

The Victoria's Secret in Reading, PA is hiring... ;)

I'm really sorry about the job, hon. That really, really sucks. Are they actually allowed to terminate without written warning? It's not like you were committing huge quanities of fraud...

I would think they can legally do it because there was technically theft involved. But given how minor the theft was and Chris' job record otherwise, you'd think they wouldn't make such a big deal out of it. It sounds to me like they were looking for a reason to can him, and this conveniently popped up to let them do it.

Actually Ohio has a "hire at will" law that allows employers to let you go without even giving a reason.

Like I've stated before, I'm not going to fight it... it's not worth it. Besides, who would want to work in a place that wants you gone?

True. That "hire at will" deal is odd. Here in Indiana, it's damn near impossible to can someone with any tenure, unless you have documented evidence of multiple violations of some policy. I think it's too strict, really. There are some folks who only have a job because their employer can't fire them despite repeatedly poor performance. Basically, you can't let anyone go for any subjective reason; it's got to be cut-and-dry to fly...

lol.. I'd probably tell. But last year was a bad year overall for me and now being I've had no job for over a month now, well, I know how you feel. Good luck getting another job though okay?

That's pretty stupid too, though..a lot of people use the employee discount.

Sounds like they fired you because they thought you stole the money but couldn't prove it.. and since you confessed to saving your friend 10 bucks, they had a reason.

Oh well. You work in TV now, who needs video stores. :)
