Sometimes, we just need to vent a little, and then it's over. But you said you cried at the computer for a couple hours, and that goes beyond a typical vent. I'm so sorry that a dark cloud rained on your holiday parade. I can't pretend to know your brain chemistry and how it works at a time like this, but I'd like to offer a thought to reflect upon.
I remember a big "aha!" moment in my life when I read Dr. Dwayne Dyer's book, "Your Erroneous Zones" in which he simply stated that nobody can make you feel anything you choose not to feel. Nobody can MAKE you feel anger, frustration, disappointment......you CHOOSE to feel anger, frustration, disappointment
( ... )
Don't worry - you didn't go over the line, and I really appreciate your insight. It's tough dealing with my depression without meds; I remember a time when I was on Prozac, and everything rolled off my back without making me a depressed mess! Unfortunately, meds have also messed with my memory, and that isn't very helpful either.
Maybe, after the holidays, I'll pick up that book you talked about; it sounds quite useful. I'm not sure that it will put a spring in my step (nor will it teach me how to whistle- I've never been able to!) but I'm sure that it will provide me with some keen insights.
Thanks so much for your help & support!
BTW: no matter how I loathe my job sometimes, just being there can be a real pick-me-up! My boss often says at the end of the day that it's been a tough one, but I've done a good job. It helps to know that someone appreciates the things you do!
