yay! dramione post.

So, recently I've been re-reading my Draco/Hermione fanfic, Water.

The aim is to tidy it up, send it off to jenl3227 and dianoram (who, unrelated to being my betas, are two fantastic people that I'm very pleased to have met), and then post the revamped versions online.

ANYWAY, I have a question:

Has anyone else got a story or a piece of art that they've ( Read more... )

I have written a story like that, that I just wonder what I thinking, where it came from. I'm not really into angst (unless it's romantic-angst based mainly on misunderstandings) and I don't read stories with attempted rape or mentions of past rape or anything of the sort if I know about it beforehand. But while Her Silent Tears doesn't have any all that explicit scenes, it's still very much a rape-fic and I just don't understand where it came from ( ... )

I know I read Her Silent Tears a while ago. And I just read it again now. It's very dark but also very beautiful. When those two elements go together, you know it's an amazing fic. And it really is. You manage to portary everything perfectly in a relatively short amount of words ( ... )

It has taken me THREE ATTEMPTS to reply to this comment. It's so frustrating!! Every time my web browser froze, so I gave up. Today it is behaving itself though.

Anyway, in reference to what you were saying about writing fics by hand, I would love to be able to do that. Mainly because it will constitute time away from a computer screen. But I always find the words don't flow as easily. I guess it's because I can't handwrite anywhere near as fast as I can type. So when I'm typing a story, I get to write the words as I think them, without delay. It just seems to develop better for me because of that. I can understand why you like handwriting, though. Because -- you're right -- one can get too distracted by the possibility of editing everything as you go along ( ... )

oh. lawd. The angst! Sista it's INSANE. I have always been in awe mostly by that, pertaining to water. Like WOW, this author really gets it. This FEELING between these two character that drags them and US into the Dramione arena ready to fight to the death to make some sense of it. As to where it comes from? A very, very active imagination, and a passion. That's right, a passion, for this sort of dynamic. This irresistible connection we have with another human being, sometimes, despite EVERYTHING. Like we don't even have any control, cause it's that god damn URGENT. It's the passion for that that propels you to write them as you do, whether you know it or not, I think. A lot of people would say empathy. but to me that's just meek. The human condition is a riveting thing, and there are so many paradigms. This connection between Draco and Hermione, (and characters/people like them) I have always felt, represents one of the riskiest. And the reward, invariably, is astounding in it's intensity. So, I think you have the passion for it. And ( ... )

You have always been VERY kind when it comes to Water. I'm so grateful that you still follow it after all this time.

I never really considered passion as one of the driving forces behind it. Which is silly, really, because that makes a lot of sense. I tend to be quite passionate about things. And yet at the same time I wish there was more passion in my life. So -- yup -- you've probably come up with a pretty accurate answer there. And you've given me a lot to think about.

I want April to be now!!! April tends to mean revision hell, BUT Dramione-related love is the perfect escape from it all. I can't wait to see what it is you're talking about!

OKAY. SO. Water, for me, has always been about the angst and the darkness, not the sex. In fact, I don't even like writing smut scenes (even though I'll happily read them in other fics). So, smut is by no means a central thing to the story.

But it is in there. And at times, the way it happens, and the thoughts written during it, are quite important to the development of the story. Off the top of my head, there are two scenes in particular in Ch 8 and Ch 12, for example.

I would, of course, love you to read Water. But it's down to personal preference, at the end of the day. And I completely understand that. If you're curious, please do give it a go. I don't think there are very many "hardcore" or graphic scenes in there (involving sex etc). But you might find it disrupts the flow skipping out what there is ( ... )

I WILL READ IT! hahaha OK. It'll have to wait when I have more time though. How long is it?

Oooh. AWESOME. I WAS AFRAID YOU LIKED SKINS WHICH IS WHY I TONED DOWN MY HATRED. BUT I SRSLY SRSLY IMMENSELY DISLIKE IT. It's just... ugh. Totally trying too hard. JUST SHOCKING. And yeah, unimpressed with its influence on impressionable kids.

Friend when the new season aired: "I watched that, looked at my life, and was like: 'How boring.'" And I'm all: "plz don't judge your life by a shitty TV programme btw. IT COMES FROM E4." And I know E4 brings us The Inbetweeners and stuff but still... E4 is gen. shit. XD

That's the other thing -- it's quite long! There are 22 chapters posted, with one more to go. The first few chapters are around 4000ish words, but after that they get to around 10,000 words...

E4 = trash. Especially now that they've stopped airing Friends episodes. THAT WAS ALL IT WAS GOOD FOR.

I know what you mean. As I said, Hermione just hasn't come as easily to me at all. I guess I'm just more passionate about Draco, so I find it easier to really get inside his head. You can totally expand on the depth of his character in ways I don't quite think you can with Hermione. But that's just personal opinion.
