Fun to see this filled. And what a great tip re: the different wrapping papers, when you're doing this as a family!

I was sure I wrote a reply - goodness knows what happened to it!

Filling it each year is fun - and the white piece of paper at the side is a key to tell them which paper denotes which family member :)

It is lovely! :)
We don't have an Advent calendar this year. I gave away the old, hand-sewn one from 2016 to a young family last year and haven't made up my mind what a new one is supposed to be like.

Thank you! Your one was really nice - and shows a lot more skill than my sewing from 1991 :)

There were 2 pieces of festive fabric stitched back to back, with strips of them sewn across, then down to make the pockets - and a 3 year old D-d helped me glue felt numbers on. Really it is amazing that it is still useable!

How lovely to have such a long-standing Christmas tradition. We still have a paper Advent calendar but I buy a new one every year.

We had some lovely paper ones in the wee Churches' Bookshop - but we also had The Real Chocolate one - which is really nice - and sold more :(

I love this tradition of yours.
I've always given the chocolate filled Advent Calendars to my daughters and still do because I can't sew or do much of anything craft-worthy. I just gave Vicki hers today...a Kinder train. Very unusual.

We think next year might be the last one - but who knows?

The Kinder train sounds lovely. Oddly, in Sunday school today we were talking about Advent as a time of getting ready.

'What do your family do?' 'Decorations', 'tree', 'bake', and then 5 yr old Jack, who is usually a young man of very, very, few words, said "We get out the Advent Train!"

He explained it is wood with 'little boxes with chocolates' - and now I am fascinated and must ask his mum about it!

I have actually seen wooden train Advent Calendars for sale. Google them...though if Jack's family has a handmade one, that's very special!

I am not sure whether Grandad made it or bought it, but Jack is just so taken with it - honestly I don't think I have ever heard him say more than 3 words in a row before!
