Lets try that again...lj wont let me amend my entry! Even at my age I think Advent calendars are fun. There's something about getting a teeny gift every day.

Isn't there! I filled the one I made with the WI, with a tiny paper drawer for each day, with M&S chocolates and S2C and I will take it in turns, and it is such a nice treat.

Everyone has their own wrapping paper

Very clever.

It works well - that way I can get things that will suit one but wouldn't have suited the others :)

I love those enduring holiday traditions--they can be interrupted, but it seems eventually we circle back around to renewing them for a new generation. (Although I doubt my mother's family tradition of going to an aunt's house who had a very loud crow as a pet who squawked and cawed over everyone will ever be repeated....)

We used to have an aunt, uncle, and cousin, who always visited quite late on Christmas Eve - and my sister and I were sent to bed whilst the cousin (my age) stayed downstairs visiting - I am still not fond of her! So that is one that I am glad we don't have a variant of these days.

But the fabric Advent Calendar has become such a part of life - I probably will carry on with it until I'm 90, even though I say I will give it up!

I remember that I saw a pattern for a very beautiful, but way beyond my skill levels, fabric one in a magazine - and liked the idea, so designed one I could sew in straight lines - well fairly straight ones anyway!

And it has been as much loved as the beautiful one would have been, over the years.
