I have decided that the advice from last Christmas is just as apt this one - especially with the stormy weather -

YES Mull!!!
especially cider

that is a WIND! 75mph - Stay Safe!!!

love the snow man and - not troll- Santa on a windy day

YES!! MESSY EPIPHANY
You could tell the Befana story if you want another culture - how they celebrate
Italian - old woman tries to follow the Wise Men who stopped at her house
She leaves candy for every child because maybe that's the child they were looking for
the Epiphany is the traditional Italian gift giving and party time

My mother always made a mince pie
i think she gave it up when i left home after college
not enough people to eat it up

BE SAFE!

This morning the weather is as predicted - current reports on the local news page are of many trees down, blocking roads, at least one shed blown away that has crashed into a car, a couple of roofs off at local garages - but at least so far no flooding.

I reckon it is definitely mulling weather!

I hadn't thought of a different story until you mentioned it, thank you. I wonder if Befana and Babushka ever meet up in their wanderings :)

Our mince pies are traditionally small individual ones - I remember baking 100 or so each Christmas with Mum or Granny when I was a child.

We can also mull over our choices in life -

Sorry, couldn't resist. 😆

Ah - but in December this must be accompanied by a glass of mulled wine - or mulled cider of course!

Thank you.

So far there are trees down blocking the roads in lots of places, a couple of roofs blown off commercial premises, at least one garden shed has taken off and landed on a car... But no-one is injured and I am warm and cosy, with no intention of leaving the house until things calm down!

I hope you have come through the other side by now. Here in E. Yorks I think we're in the eye as I type this. It's very still. We expect the worse later today, but I don't think the winds are expected to be as strong here.

It's just beginning to ease now.

Lots of trees down, a few roofs off, at least one air-borne shed - but nobody injured as far as I know, so all good.

Thank goodness. I dread to think what life was like before we had our more accurate weather forecasting.

You will be like us - storms are part of life and you just pause what you must and then get on with things when it improves.
