I can't imagine dumping an animal that needs help. A couple of months ago I was driving to work and saw a car hit something but before I hit it too I stopped. With the help of a plumber that I yelled at, we managed to catch an 8 week old kitten that couldn't seem to run very well. I was told I can take it to the shelter or leave it but I can't imagine doing that. A couple hundred bucks later lol and the vet giving me a big break on cost poor kitty had a fractured pelvis and required about 3 weeks in a crate unless we were holding him, pain meds and lots of love. He's ours forever now but it makes me shudder to think I could have just left him or that someone else would have. the person that hit him never even stopped. Best thing that ever happened to me!
He is so big now! He's slowly growing into that tail if you can see it, the tail has to be almost a foot and a half long at least. Yeah he's taking his place here lol... and loving it in his 6 foot castle.
Oh, for heaven's sake. A cat peeing outside the litter box is a sure sign that something is wrong, and it's time to see the vet. Granted, sometimes it's a behavioral thing, and cause by some change in the household, but more often than not, it's a sign of something like a UTI. Which can be fatal - I once lost a cat to complications from a UTI.
About the only logic I can see behind this is that the people couldn't afford to take their pets to the vet. If that's the case, then you shouldn't have a pet in the first place.
