The Sam+Dean+Laura Story

FYI: Here, Sam and Dean Winchester (samw_mrperfect and dean_w, respectively) are largely considered to have followed Supernatural canon up through the episode "Heart" with this storyline starting not long after those incidents. Laura Roslin (president_laura), then, largely followed Battlestar Galactica canon up through the end of the 3rd season when she experienced a sudden spatial-temporal displacement due to a malfunctioning FTL drive.
Sam and Dean (and Laura, separately) went to the Spring Fling Party at the Isle Ballroom in L.A. Dean chatted up a lady detective by the name of Kalie Maka while Sam found himself drawn to a mystery lady on the wall, one Laura Roslin. The conversations continued (Spring Fling Party, part 2) and after mentioning a bit about his work, Sam learned that Laura might have a case for him - her own. So, they went to talk about her situation, which was difficult to believe, but also so sincerely stated and Sam decided that he wanted to help her however he could. Dean had continued his talk with Kalie (Spring Fling Party, part 3), but wondered where his brother had run off to, waving Sam over when he finally returned to the party. With the detective there, though, and with Sam's nerves about Dean's reaction to Laura's case, they decided to talk about it later, and they did talk a little bit about it later, at their motel, after the party.
The next morning, Sam, Dean, and Laura all met, as planned, at a local coffee shop, so Dean could get a better sense of Laura and so Sam and Laura could start work on her case. After Dean had left them to their work, Sam and Laura got a few things accomplished but agreed to meet again in a few days.
In the Impala, on the way back to the motel, Sam and Dean had a candid talk about what Laura's case was really about, which seemed to be going well, but really wasn't, so Sam agreed to set up a time for Dean to hear the story from Laura directly. Then that night, Laura called Sam, worried over a disturbing dream and he calmed her before arranging for the three of them to have lunch the next day.
At a bistro near the coffee shop, Sam and Dean met with Laura, giving Dean a chance to hear the story, not that it changed his mind all that much, but they gave it a shot. Later, Sam called Laura to check-in and to maybe get together, but she wasn't answering her phone. He got worried and decided to go visit her, at which time he learned just how sick she was. Sam was determined to get her well, though, and had Dean bring over his laptop so that he could stay and do research there all night.
