As much as they teach you about Cutco's features, they actually teach you very little about kitchen knives in general. This is because if they did teach you about forged vs stamped, serrations vs straight edges, 440A steel vs 440C or VG-10, bolstered vs. bolsterless, etc Cutco would start to look very crappy especially for as much as they charge. Master Chef Wylie Dufresne told GQ magazine "I have plenty of friends whose parents have Cutco in a knife block. You pull them out and they're all as dull as can be." Norman Weinstein, a nationally recognized kitchen knife skills instructor was quoted by the Baltimore Sun newspaper as saying "Why, why, would you buy such a knife?" Consumer Reports magazine said the handles are more uncomfortable than most, the blades corrode easier than most, and rated many knives above Cutco. You would have great difficulty finding one person who actually knows anything about knives (which wouldn't be a Cutco sales rep) that recommends Cutco.

Also, they don't give you any breaks during training- to prevent people from leaving for lunch or the bathroom and not coming back- blatently illegal to do to employees but they take away your employee rights and make you an independent contractor instead ( ... )

You have training, about 3 days. You learn more about knives than you ever thought that there was to them.
3 days was a waste of time to find out all u need to know, it was just a ploy to put as much bullshit into your head as they can so that fucked up company can start brainwashing you... and honestly there really isn't much to know about a knife- what it's made out of and how it's made and the tang, that should not take 3 fucking days.
Cutco is a company, and it makes money. That's what companies do. A lot of reps don't make it because they quit. Yeah the company makes money off of you that's why they harass you to sell every 5 seconds. If you sell 100 dollars they get at least 75% of that for their own pocket, that's why the managers are so bitchy about selling to anyone you can find... it's not a company it's a cult run by assholes. People quit because they are harassed in the worst ways bec they won't make vector their entire life... hello, there is more to life than selling knives and that is totally taboo to this company, ( ... )

What did you spend $500 on? The sample kit was less than $150

Yes, I do. I'm really quite lazy about things but I can still do demos and turn in orders, but I call the office about once a month.
How long have you worked there?

Dude, what are you guys talking about? If Cutco/Vector bothers you that much, sell the knives you bought in training to someone and get rid of everything. It's that simple. Make money off something you want to get rid off, idiot. You guys must have some crazy offices and district managers because yeah my DM checks in with me but they know my pace.. I work another job too and they're okay with it. I learned a LOT about kitchen knives during my training and got to have lunch while watching the Olean movie. We were able to take bathroom breaks too. Your DM just is gay.
You guys are taking this way out of hand.
