I think everyone knows by now that I suffered a major stroke on the evening of Jan 12th. It affected my right side, numbing everything from the top of the my head on down. Mother
My mother was born in Hakodate, Japan on this date in 1930. She was the youngest of 6 children, spoiled terribly by her mother and older sisters and brothers. Her father died of pneumonia when she was 2 years old. She met my dad when he was stationed in Tokyo after WWII. Vacation time!
My husband, stepdaughter and I are leaving for the beach today! We have a condo rented at Gulf Shores, Alabama for the holiday weekend. There won't be much sun as the weather forecast is rain the whole time we will be there. But we'll still shop and eat seafood.

a personal update...
I've been feeling much better since going on insulin at the end of January. It has been quite an experience having to give myself injections and checking the blood glucose several times a day. I've got needle tracks all over me! The only downside is the few pounds I lost a couple of months ago are now back ( Read more... ) -

I've gotten all my Christmas shopping done! First time I've ever finished by December 1st. Although I have to say most of the gifts are gift cards, but that is what they wanted this year.
We had a few snow flurries here yesterday. Most people in the South like to see snow since it's pretty rare. Me, no way. I hate cold weather.

Muffin
I am devastated. My beloved cat, Muffin, was killed this morning by our neighbor's three dogs. The dogs had attacked her in our driveway and by the time I got to her, she was gone.
I got Muffin when she was a kitten, almost 17 years ago. She was my baby, and I'm going to miss her so much.
