Change of Format?

A while ago a friend of mine, who I guess is kind of my proofreader and general soundboard, read through the update and found herself a little confused initially when beginning each section. So I was wondering how many of you find yourself in the same boat, and if it should be changed to something clearer ( Read more... )

Hmm...that would be helpful I think . Would you have each thing tagged so, say, you could read back on all that certain characters plot points? I don't know if that made sense but either way I'll still continue to read!

Hmm, I hadn't thought about tagging things. Definitely something to consider :)

I think I used to get confused before I started getting more comfortable with who the characters are and what's going on with them, but I think it might help to have the names for people who aren't TOTALLY OBSESSED with your stories like I am.

Also? Moar Van. Like I'm not gonna say it.

That's understandable considering how many new characters were introduced in gen2. It's about to get worse, dun dun dun!
Thankfully most of them wont get their own perspectives.

Of course moar Van! I'm not sure if he'll fit in the current one I'm writing (mostly because I'm trying to explain a relationship w/ a new character that keeps getting insanely long), but he'll definitely be in the next to visit for Christmas. *Insert attractive male love interest here*

Woot! Van-Shaped goodness (even if it's just a little bit).

Now I'm going to ask one of those "oh my god, shut up, you're only making it worse!" questions...since you posted I decided to go back and reread the entire legacy.

Y'know...because it's so BLINKING awesome...

...and I have a question (which may have been answered already, as I am admittedly only on Gen 1.11 at the moment); what happened to Aimee's brother Gary? Will he ever make a reappearance?

.........Yeah, like you need ANOTHER character to worry about...

It's okay :P

Well, after their mother did such a shitty job of looking after his brood while they were out (it nearly or could have drowned, I don't remember which, honestly), and the constant BS related to Aimee and her life, Gary just sort of... swore Julia out of his life. He refused to go to the funeral, even though he could've seen his sister (and her son) for the first time in several years.

However, being that things are going so well for her, and surely he's gotten over the tension by now, it's high time they had a reunion. Hmm... Christmas would indeed be a good time *plots*

I never had a problem before, but from what you're saying it sounds like this would be for a future (and soonish?) update? If that's the case, and you are having certain perspectives jump around, I like the idea of putting their name at the beginning of their section. I think it's a simple way of making things clearer. I also like phoenix's idea of linking it to their past plot-lines, but that's also a lot of reorganization if it's something that will only be for a chapter or two... but that's only my opinion. OR simply including a picture featuring the person in question, doing their simly thing, would work as a header, as well. For instance, if you're switching from Sloane's perspective to Van's... a picture of Van in a scene would indicate you are now in someone else's world, especially if the two sections were separated by asterisks ***** or dashes ------. It's all preference. If you feel like adding their names as a header would slow down your pace, I'm sure you'll find something that will work. :) Like I said, I've never had a ( ... )

Mm, I don't really want to say it will be soonish because it seems like every time I do, I end up hating something and need to fix it. But I am currently trying to tidy up the last bit of Sloane's part from a new person's perspective. And because it is now shorter I need to adapt Drake's to fit. Then I get to finish working on sets and find the ambition to actually shoot them. The lazy, I have it! =P

I think part of my friend's problem was that she didn't know how I planned to set things up with pictures, and most commonly the new sections start with a picture right away. But the way I bounce around sometimes I am sure it does get really confusing.

And thank you, that is sweet! :) I feel like my writing has sort of been on the outs lately which is why I need to rewrite a million times, but I hope that whenever the update goes up you will still feel the same, and also like the new characters :)
