Music and lyrics are always at war. They cannot take center stage at the same time, and any song that incorporates both truly beautifully (say, Blackbird) makes compromises on both ends. The first rule of rock music is: you don't sing during the guitar solo. A song with true poetry for lyrics (say, Dylan songs) usually have nothing but a guitar

You ever notice how lead guitarists and lead singers rarely get along? Joe Perry and Steve Tyler, Mick Jagger and Kieth Richards, Eddie Van Halen and all the lead singers, Slash and Axl. It's funny, they always get in feuds and break up, then they try to make it with solo careers, fail, and realize they need each other to be worth listening to... If they know what's good for'em, Axl's new band SUCKS!

Anyway, I don't really have any theories on this, just giving you some examples that prove you're right... kinda, I guess. I'm sure what I said applies somehow.

Seriously. I mean, Led Zeppelin, the greatest metal band of all time - the band for whom, in fact, the term was coined - had fucking ridiculous lyrics. I mean, just lame, geeky shit, Vikings and Middle Earth and what have you. And yet, everyone thinks Immigrant Song is totally badass; they don't even realize what the words mean. And it IS totally badass, and they SHOULDN'T have to realize what the words mean. That would be totally missing the point.

aha! so I finnally check the good ol LJ and there it is, A topherism. The good ol' IC is at 155 main. Down on the main strip, bout halfway up. Don't know if I'll be there much when school starts back up again.. They kinda gotta lay me off, business is too slow. but hell. I know where St. Johns is. I'll bring my little butt over there and shirk off all this boohooing already. I mean, I miss ya'll terribly but i dont regret my decision, It was the right choice. So enough already
