I've Got a Bad Feeling About This

The original trilogy is a myth. This point has been rehashed (not the least by Lucas himself, to gain himself literary credibility) a million times, but it bears repeating: it is a new myth for a new age. The Farm Boy, the Princess, the Rogue and the Wizard must fight against the Evil Emperor and the Black Knight to end evil in the Galaxy. It's ( Read more... )

Amen to that. Joseph Campbell should up his zombie self and kick Lucas' ass right about now.

I'm beginning to think that they didn't Lucas write or direct his own movies for a reason. Just look at what he's done to them.

Oh, and by the way, it's midichlorians, which makes, if you can believe it, even less sense.

This is taken straigt out of one of our countless conversations concerning the PT v. the OT at lunch or dinner. I agree with you, though not completely. Before we make any judgements concerning the entirety of the PT, we should probably see Revenge of the Sith. I've been indulging in massive spoilers, and I've even read the novelization. (Which you should definately pick up, its not incredibly well-written or anything, but it really fleshes out characters like Dooku and Greivous, and makes Anakin's and Obi-Wan's friendship more beleivable than the movie probably does. The movie will rock visually, but it will probably lack the emotional punch.) RotS hopefully will cure the PT of some of it's evils. (the boilerplate effect)

Yeah, this is my point entirely. Some defend the new movies saying that a puppet could never do what a CGI Yoda does, but fuck, I'd rather have him on an actor's back being a sort of lazy, abusive kung fu trainer than a guy doing ridiculous backflips. If I want two hours of backflips, I'll watch Mortal Kombat Annihilation or Three Ninjas Kick Back.
