On film: tech vs character

Happy New Year, ladies and gentlemen.

I read an article in the New York Times which very briefly outlined the history of 3D cinema. The main point of the article, though, was that 3D will only be 'here to stay' when it moves beyond being a gimmick. I can't take any reviewer seriously when they talk about the potential for 3D unless they've studied the classic, "Disco Dolls in Hot Skin".

I can't take anything this guy says seriously with a sentence like this.
