She knew everyone here was worried. That went without saying. But she couldn't help but think Ed had been too lucky, too many times. Until she could see him for herself, she wouldn't know if he'd be okay. When the doctor said Ed could see visitors, she grabbed Al's gauntlet, squeezing the leather as if he could feel it.
Winry pushed through the door, biting her lip, taking in how pale Ed looked, the tubes running in and out of his body. Clinically, he looked okay, but she couldn't quite look at him clinically. "What were you doing, Ed?" Her normal yell barely came out as a squeak.

The hardest part was to ignore House and his sarcastic comments about if he was hooking up with one of the nurses and that's why he was leaving at the first opportunity. He managed to hide it and avoid House, but the blond doctor new that he was getting curious and that was never a good thing.

When the last of their little group had come out, Al took his turn, sidling sideways through the door to fit his giant bulk.

"Of course I'm safe, you big dummy," Al said, after gently bumping Ed's fist with his. He took a seat next to the bed.
"When you're better I'm gonna yell at you."
