nothing rhymes with the longest tour review in the history of mankind

Dec 18, 2006 01:27

So I saw seven shows on Panic! At The Disco's Nothing Rhymes With Circus tour, and I've just now finished up my write-up. \o/ And by write-up I mean: novel. We're talking meta-analysis, show by show details, discussion of male/male sexuality in popular culture, links to videos, minor comparisons to pop music past and present, vague assertions as ( Read more... )

Best review ever. Seriously, all reviews should include queer & sexual theory. And because I'm strange in the head I am totally going to memory this post.

Man, it pains me that there's no Panic! meta. Come on! They're a text! A gay, gay text! No? Sigh.

It wasn't too bad for me, I'm in Washington so I only had to take Friday off to fly to Las Vegas. They were a lot of fun, though, and it was definitely nice seeing the hometown show and the last show on the tour. I'm glad it worked out like that. Whee!

I completely get why Panic! hearts Zack, he's exactly their kind of bitchy, but in that sort of fiercely protective way. And not just that he'd stop someone from hurting them, you know? He's a good guy. Plus at the Portland show he was talking about how man-on-man naps are the best kind and after that I said ah, self, we are going to like Zack now, and so here we are.

Did you see the pictures from the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas? Brendon looked like he was in deathly need of a nap, poor kid. Really, as much as I appreciate the new shiny things every day, I also don't want them to fall over. Naps for all! King size bed! Video camera! ...wait, what?

and then, of course, after the massive amount of realization that will hit the world, we all get to watch homophobia disappear entirely thanks to the efforts of one gay-friendly band and, of course, be invited to their wedding.
which, knowing panic, might be undersea in waterproof makeup for all we know. maybe they'll wear strap on tails.
i hope.

What Renne said. I <3 social theory. :D I read Rae's myspace post a couple of weeks ago, where she wrote similiar things. And I just... so much YES.

Also need to comment on the, hey wanna go to 7 shows? just DO it! thing. Seriously, it's not THAT expensive, it's not THAT hard. This fandom gave me that desire, that willingness to really *travel* to shows. And for that I am very grateful, because as a result, I've had experiences that are priceless.

Rae gets all her best material from me, HA. She's been pestering me to post this for weeks. Dating academics, man.

Yeah, it really didn't break the bank. The plane tickets were unfun and the driving augh ick bad, but seriously? Worth it. So, so worth it. No question. I mean, hello, I have a job, fandom is my hobby...what else am I spending my money on? The answer should always be Ryan Ross.
