I just watched Penelope; it was really very good. Which is an understatement considering how muc

Now I feel like making a list of the best romantic movies ever. Or at least the ones you people like, because a movie certainly doesn't have to be a cinematic masterpiece just to be liked and enjoyed. You'd think I'd be an elitist after spending so ( Read more... )

I've always loved Twelfth Night. And Much Ado About Nothing (for Benedick and Beatrice's verbal sparring; Hero and Claudio are kind of bland).

Oh, oh. We watched Much Ado About Nothing on video for drama class when I was in school; it's been about as many years since I saw it last, but I remember loving that verbal sparring and thinking they were completely made for each other.

I'm guessing you're definitely a fan of Shakespeare adaptations?

I am. Until I saw the Twelfth Night with Parminder Nagra and Chiwetel Ejiofor, though, I wasn't sold on film adaptations of that play (even though it's by far my favorite Shakespearian comedy). I saw a version with Ben Kingsley as Feste - he's the only part I remember well, so clearly? Not terribly memorable.

I forgot about A Very Long Engagement; I absolutely loved, loved, loved that one. I think-- yes, I think I want to rewatch it now. Maybe Vel has it on DVD, because I know I don't. I don't think I've ever heard of the other one, though, I'm sorry.

Fuzz is, um, you know, if something make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Just kind of fuzzy and heart-warming? That's it.

The Slipper and the Rose. It still cracks me up, and it's beautiful, visually.

It doesn't really fit the typical romcom formula. It's just-- I don't know, it's romance with comedy, or comedy with romance, and it's a fairytale, so it just feels kind of different, you know?

I never watched the other two.
