The Party's Over, but I'm Still Dancing...

I've been pondering something the past few days (though the seeds have been germinating for several months). So how do I put this without sounding whiny...?

Is this the end? )

Truth be told, I can hardly stand to look at anything Naruto-related these days--that's how annoyed I am with the manga. And when I'm not annoyed, I'm just utterly ambivalent to its existence. I stopped reading the manga months ago because it bored me, and I haven't read any Naruto fic for...well, since Silvershine's last update, whenever that was, and hers are the only ones I've read for well over a year. BUT I do greatly admire your art whenever I see it posted, regardless of the pairing, because it's always so extremely lovely, though that's over on dA, not here on LJ ( ... )

I think those of us who've been around a few years are all going the same way and for many of the same reasons. Many have quit without warning, some got swallowed up by RL, and some were driven away by nasty readers. Some just moved on to other fandoms.

It's too bad you don't write anymore, you have a visceral poetic style that I always really liked. But I understand that when the muse is gone, it's gone. I said above that if I hadn't started this fic over a year ago, there's no way I'd start something new now. Nothing excites me enough to create a story out of it.

Yes, I think you're probably right. It's a RL + other fandoms combo for me, haha.

Weeeeeell, I'm not writing Naruto fanfic anymore ...though I *do* have an AU SasuSakuDei one-shot I've had half-finished for MONTHS that I might well complete sometime, but I don't think I could ever just stop writing completely unless I was dead. Now I'm writing Thor-fic, and...working on an original story or two, actually. :]

Yeah, I meant for Naruto fandom. I'm actually eager to get out of fandom writing and start working on my original stuff and have been for a long time, but I'm committed to finishing what I started.

When I read that you were feeling underappreciated I decided to finally to stop lurking and actually respond to something. I too have noticed the decline in fics with Kakashi in them around the time when he was killed for a bit. Now that the manga as taken a turn for the worse the only real reason I don’t stop reading it until I hear something good starts happening is because I feel the need to stay up to date for reading fan fiction. And honestly you’re the only author with a multichapter fic going on that I’m reading. Because I’ve been whining to myself and because I feel like an ungrateful lout for reading all the absolutely wonderful fanficion out there without contributing I’ve decided to try my hand at being an author. The amazing stories you’ve put out and you’re continued excellence with Will of Fire really inspires me to try and become an active member of the community that actually gives back for all the enjoyment I’ve gotten over the years. I am already fully aware that my writing isn’t up to par with most people’s. But to ( ... )

Thanks for the support :) None of us started out as great writers, and we never stop improving and refining our skill (if you ever think you have nothing left to work on, you're deluding yourself). The key to developing writing skill is to write. The other is to read, read read. And pay attention to the author's style, the word choice, the way the story is constructed. Once you start writing yourself, you'll notice these things automatically, and can use what you observe in your own work. The other thing that no one can help you with, but is critical to good writing is life experience. See and do and learn things, learn to understand people so the stories you write are believable, even if it's a fantasy about teenage ninjas. :)

Cynchick; The reason I started following you was because of your Naruto fanfictions.
I think you're one of the best KakaSaku writers out there.
Your fanfiction Will of Fire is at the top of my list, patiently waiting for an update.
Your other stories are still on my favorites list, even though I finished reading them a LONG time ago. Ive even read some of them more than twice.

I've been waiting 3 years for SilverShine to finish her fanfic Seven Days.
I'm pretty sure she isn't going to, but, hopefully she does.
Does this make me a reliable reviewer/fan?

Yeah I don't think that one will ever be finished, considering she's done like 8 other things since then. I think I remember her saying she hit a wall with where she wanted it to go. It's quite possible she's left the fandom for good now, which is unfortunate, but I guess that's life.

It's always encouraging to know there's still someone out there eagerly supporting and waiting for that next update. The loyal fans are the ones we remember and appreciate most, at least for me.

B'awwww. Thanks Cyn :)

I really got into art & writing because of you and a few other fanfiction artists.

You were one of the first artists who got me into KakaSaku and for that I wanna say thanks! XD

I dont really go onto Livejournal much, but when I do, I check your page and a couple communities.

skfdsjafjdsa the saga of Naruto fandom and myself is one that is terrible and filled with SECRETS, LIES and MYSTERIES. Also occasionally A GREAT DEAL OF ALCOHOL. Please feel free to GTFO ( ... )

I started telling myself, back when the manga was constantly pissing me off (including this week), that I'd put too much time and energy into it to quit before it's finished. So I won't stop reading, but it's disappointing because it started out with so much potential.

... I seem to be the only one not hating this arc. Because I really do not give a damn about Sauceycakes. D: And as much as I do love Sakura and Naruto and really really love Sai... the usual gang just bored me. I like seeing the rest of Kishi's world, even if he sucks at building it? With terrible character screen time balancing and you know, all the things Kishi sucks at doing.
