Wow.. I just got back from House of Blues. I went and saw Les Claypools Bucket of Bernie Brains.. or something like that. (NOT Primus, as Greg would say- hehe.) Anyway, I almost didn't want to go just because I feel like I'm starting to burn myself out with all these shows. I kind of forced myself because I felt sort of obligated since Ryan comped ( Read more... )

I do believe that to be a sitar.. pronounced si-tar... Moulin Rouge! has a 'penniless sitar player' and a 'magical sitar'... yeah.. lol

Concert burnout? Yeah, it happens... I had CZ on weds, then the next night was Petey Pablo... I didn't really want to go to Petey, so it was kindda like "meh" to me... heh :D

THANK you, that was driving me up a wall. The guy behind me talking to his friend was calling it a "centar" which through me off. I knew it was an Indian instrument but even Mr. Google couldn't help me out. :D

Sabre beat me to it, but yeah--sitar. It's of Indian origins--there is a professor here who teaches it... Neato.

Sounds like quite the eerie yet entertaining show! LOL the part about Les lurking out from the shadows cracked me up. Hahahhahaha.
enjoyed the write-up. =)
GARH my suitemate (who is out) left her alarm clock set, so it's been going NNG NNG NNG NNG NNG for the 20 minutes I've been here--I don't think it's going to stop anytime soon. And her door's locked. Dannnnnnnnnnng LOL. I wonder if I can nap with that on. And if I do, will MY alarm wake me up in time for class? Hmmmm.

Yay Cyn and the Whamola! Sounds like one heck of a show!
Has anyone ever actually truly identified who Buckethead really is? He's freakin brilliant!

You are familiar with him, Jenny?? Since I wasn't familiar with this particular band before I went, I was like whoooahh! The mask made him so much cooler- haha. I actually hope he IS never identified, I think its really awesome that I don't know who he is or what he looks like. LOL I even put him in my userprofile on here- go look! :D

My brother was lucky enough sta to get up next to the stage while they all were here in SL the other day. I didn't go, not my type of tunes, but he LOVED it!

Opener: Gabby La La (gabbylala.com)
during the opening act, Bernie Worrell and Brain also made guest appearances, not just Les.

The Magic Box Thingy is called a Theramin. Invented by that guy Mr. Moog. it takes electromagnetical waves and stuff and makes that weird sound. Left hand is for volume, and right hand does the X, Y, and Z axis' to get whatever sounds. No strings. Penn and Teller use one in their show too. Very trippy.

REAL name of the headliners: Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains (c2b3.com) (c2b3live.com - soundboard recordings from every showThe electric upright bass is often played with a bow... not a violin bow, and its not a big violin. its just a big bow made specifically for upright basses. see your local orchestra for details ( ... )
